Hospital Bag Checklist: What's Really Worth Packing

Packing your hospital bag in advance brings peace of mind and reassurance in the final days of pregnancy. That way, even if your baby decides to arrive early, you're all set!

For mom

Set aside comfortable clothes and practical essentials:

  • Personal identification documents;
  • Comfortable clothing suitable for postpartum recovery;
  • Personal toiletries;
  • Robe or dressing gown.

For baby

Essential clothes and items in the right sizes:

  • Bodysuits / onesies;
  • Sleepsuits / footies;
  • A soft, cozy blanket;
  • Newborn-sized diapers;
  • Beanie or soft hat.

Essential documents

Keep everything together in an easily accessible folder or pouch:

  • Prenatal care card or records;
  • Photo ID;
  • Health insurance card (if applicable);
  • Birth plan, if you have prepared one.

The ideal timing

Pack and organize everything around 34 to 36 weeks of pregnancy. This helps you avoid rushing, forgetting items, and last-minute stress!
